What are the chances that Powell will be taken hostage by Arafat?

Arafat has shown in the past that he's not truly interested in a peaceful resolution to the violence in that region, IMO. Powell might be considered a very valuable bargaining chip by Arafat.

Personally I don't think he'd be that stupid, but I thought I'd throw the idea out there.

That's just nuts! There's no way they'd be able to fool an American investigation and they have no motive anyway. Arafat wouldn't 'cause it wouldn't help him. However Powell is in danger becauase there are plenty of Palestinian loose cannons (suicide bombers and the like) who would jump at the chance to get their pound of American flesh.

I've said it before, the man (powell) would not be taken hostage by arafat, he is army, he has army personell around him, they would die (or kill arafat and his puny lil palestinian gaurds) before being taken hostage by that guy.

Arafat is not that stupid. If he were to try and pull something like that he would quickly find out if the whole 72 virgins thing is true. Plus we would unleash Israel and then soon we could all vacation in the new Israeli resorts of Baghdad, Cairo, and Tehran.
