What are the chances someone will come out with a PhII specific water block?

Now that AMD cpus are actually overclockable can we expect one of the top companies to come out with a block in anticipation of all those OC'd 940 and 720s ? I heard that the GTZ and FuZion2 are both designed around the Intel processor so thats why I am asking.

I am about to buy the last component of my WCing rig now that I have it all mapped out and perfected but I wanted to know if there was a reason to wait as I plan to OC a 940.

Any ideas or speculation?

You'd be hard pressed to find a specified waterblock for Phenom II. Since the socket design is exactly the same as AM2 boards, you should be able to pick up a standard AM2 block.

The GTZ isn't designed specifically for i7. Just for the socket type. Since AM3/AM2(+) are the same socket size, there won't be a new block specifically for Phenom II.

If you look on the Swiftech site for the GTZ (http://www.swiftnets.com/products/Apogee-GTZ.asp) it doesn't mention that it was designed specifically for i7.

Just go for a waterblock for AM2. Should do the trick.

Got this about the GTZ from the Swiftech website:

The cold plate surface is topographically mapped to provide an optimized TIM joint with socket 775 & 771 processors. As a result, the Apogee? GTZ requires a specific mounting orientation with respect to the CPU socket in order to optimize performance as illustrated below:

So I thought it was optimized for the Intel processors, not just the I7. I have no problem using a FuZion2 so its not like I just need a block. I was just curious.

Thanks.

Ahh. I understand. Hm. Thats pretty doubtful that you'll find something thats designed specifically for Phenom II. Then again, the hell do i know! Good luck with your new set up

i7 block will be just as good as PHII block.

Single die location center.

In all cases, the blocks all have sufficient cooling head, and contact is great.

The hardest part tho, is finding an AM2 mount.
