Yes, there will be a special edition Z06 for 2004 that will have a carbon fiber hood, but I wouldn't compare a vehicle built entirely out of carbon fiber to a vehicle with just a carbon fiber hood.Originally posted by: FFMCobalt

Not sure if I'm reading your post right, but the Z06 isn't made of carbon fibre. Its a composite plastic - i.e. fiberglass.Originally posted by: FFMCobalt

carbon fiber... at least the hoods on all those civics...
then theres actually carbon fiber done right... like the bandwagon car McLaren F1...![]()
The only other car made with carbon fiber that I can think of that is dollar-for-HP worthy is the Z06.
There's a special edition Z06 (or future production model, I don't remember which) that will have a carbon fiber hood to lighten the load.

AFAIK, the C6 Corvette will still use fiberglass.

I don't think elemental boron is used as matrix, and RCC doesn't have any specific advantages over carbon fiber. Plus I don't see how you can include boron in RCC, and anyway, are you thinking of casting it all in titanium (can Ti even be cast?)?Originally posted by: shuttleteam
Boron dust composite and RCC for the leading edges. Lots of titanium to hold it together...

Not in elemental form, but it is a common alloy in steel and other metals.Originally posted by: vi_edit

Is the whole Saturn made out of thermoplastic, or is it just the lower door panels?Originally posted by: cavemanmoron
cars bodies are usually made of thin steel;
some like saturns are a dent resistant plastic
some are also aluminum,but,sheet metal steel is the most common

Will it be a complete exhaust system made from titanium? Or just titanium exhaust tips like the rest of GM vehicles (well, it's chrome but you know what I mean)?
