ya they are backup's .. like say if u have a logo.sys file that you changed, you could keep the old one as logo.bak or .old , same idea, some backup programs might use the extensions specifically too ..

No files inparticular; I was just browsing through the Windows directory and saw some with that extension and was wondering what the extension was for since I'd never seen it before.
