What are the best types of CD-R's to buy?

I know this has something to do with the color of the bottom of the cd. Certain colors are better than others.

Does the brand matter?

I use Sony CD-Rs that have a light greenish bottom.

I use TDK blue-greens for my data and Mitsui Gold for Audio CD's. I know the TDK's are good, but i'm not that sure about the Mitsui's. good enuf for me..

the darker blue the better its a lot in the dye.

I find the nicest cd's are verbatims and fujifilms

there is also a cdr identifer program somewhere i lost it when i reformatted my HD but it was good it would analyze the dye that was on the cdr
if u find plz refer me to it an look for cyanine in your cd's.
cyanine is the good dye u prolly want
