What are the best steps to install Windows OS?

as the subject says...

My way is as followed:

1. Install Windows on a blank partition
2. Do Windows Update (??)
3. Install chipset driver (e.g. VIA 4-in-1 drivers ?)
4. Install cards drivers ( sound card, NIC, and graphic card ??)
5. Install applications

How do you guys install your windows OS to ensure best stability? I know windoze's never stable unlike linux, etc. Pls don't flame.
 
Install 2k with format, upon reboot, apply Service Pack and reboot, create admin account and apply any patches or drivers required then reboot, install hardware drivers, install office suite reboot, run windows update, then do all the tweaks.
