If you can find some Altec_Lansing ADA880s, they are very nice. They are Dolby digital.

I think you can get the Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 for about $130.

I paid the retail price awhile ago, $199. I've been very happy with them.

There not the most powerful out there, but the sound is crisp and clean. Just make sure you have an SBlive or and MX-300 sound card.

Yeah go for the FPS2000, very nice speakers and just having 4 speakers is so much better than having just 2. Nobody can describe it, because to truly believe it, you must listen to it.

the altec ACS48s are bar none the best speakers Ive ever had the pleasure of using. They are fantastic. I would KILL for those speakers in a DD5.1 setup. I am using the DT2500s right now and they sound nice but the 48s are still way better. the ACS56s kinda suck dont bother with them. I have sold about 6 people on the ACS48s and every one of them has told me later what a great set they were. theres another ACS something or other out there that is exactly the same as the 48s only they are meant for OEMs and so dont have the pretty packaging for like 60$ or something.

If I wasnt trying to turn my office into a 4 speaker den of sound, I would have probably gotten the ACS48's or 46's...

I guess in my mind, more is better and since my soundcard (MX300) will output to 2 sets of speakers, I was going to try and stick with a 4.1 setup...

I went and listened to the ACS56 and the FPS2000 and I liked the latter...Sound was clearer....Too bad they dont make something like the ACS48's in a 4.1 setup...(the acs56's were a poor attempt.IMHO)

Yah! The Altec Lansing ACS 48s KICK A--. I had mine for over a year.
They were selling for @ 100 bucks then but the ones that I got were
mismarked at 49 bucks but they sold them to me anyway at that price.
The FPS2000s are also good, but I have read a lot of reviews and
been able to do side by side comparisons on all these units right in
the store and just bought the ALTEC LANSINGACS 56. Sounds just as
good as the FPS2000, actually BETTER I think. I took em home for
$140.06 (from Best Buy) And I have a $30.00 rebate ticket to send in !
GREAT SPEAKERS FOR $110.00 !!!!!!!!!
