I just purchased a $10 phone from AT&T until the new iphone comes out. It's their pay as you go. You could try that...

I think it was like $30-35 with minutes.

1) get Verizon Inpulse at walmart. comes with $10 credit.
2) activate it
3) use $10 credit to buy ringtones/wallpapers/games
4) Port it over to Pageplus

Page plus is .08/min talk, .05/txt msg if u buy the $25 or higher refill card. and it lasts for 4months. when u refill, time rolls over.

For me: Tracfone.

Mostly because they dont require your personal info to get a phone working. I'm a conspiracy nut and like to keep anonymous when possible.

Their website says $0.12/min with a $0.50/mo service fee though. And can PP activate a VZ Inpulse?

Another thing is to go T-Mobile. $100 gets your 1000 minutes and they don't expire for a whole year. Use coupons or points at cheapphonecards and you might be able to get a $100 card for maybe like $87-$90, further cutting the per-minute cost down.

T-Mobile 2 Go

If you buy the $100 card, you get 1K mins (10c/min) + you are a Gold Reward Member, so you get additional 15% for every subsequent purchase. I believe texts are 10c.

$100 card expires in one year. You can renew an additional year by just buying the minimum card ($10, I think).

You have to take into account what us pageplus-ers refer to as the "funny money." If you buy a $25 card, you actually get $36 credited to your account. $36/.12 = 300 minutes.

My wife and I used to be on a shared plan. But when I got a new job that included a company phone (with Verizon), we canceled that plan (and employer paid the ETF). Got a single plan for her on Verizon @ ~$50-ish a month including taxes.

Turns out she wasn't using many minutes, so I looked at what options were out there towards the end of her contract. I read about PP on howardforums, and activated her phone on it as soon as her contract ended.

I buy her a $25 card every 3 months or so. Works out perfectly. $100/year vs $600/year. Yeah, I know, I could go sero, but what's the point?

Page Plus uses the verizon native network (you may roam in some areas at .99/min, but I haven't found one yet), so coverage is awesome. But Tmobile is also good, if PP wasn't around, I would have gone with them.

It all depends on your needs. How many minutes a month? Lots of texting? Need data?

I use Net10 / Tracfone ... I think it's the same thing. $.1/min & $.05 / text. When I purchased my phone from Net10 you could get the cheapest phone free with 300 minutes for $30.

Virgin Mobile has 1000 minute for 50 bucks, 500 minute for $30, no bullshit daily or connection fees.

While technically not pre-paid, MetroPCS has no contracts and you get unlimited minutes for $35 a month with no strings attached.

low usage 7-11's pre-paid you can buy a $10 card and it lasts an entire year.

Well I can't get Verizon or Pageplus in my area.

I've got a tracfone I activated just for my move, but it is soooo expensive. . . unless you pony up the double minutes for life card. . .

I can get virgin mobile in my area, thoughts or other options?

I vote against AT&T pay as you go, I like being able to add text messages and night and weekends, but they screw you pretty good. I have the buck a day you use it service with .10 a minute, not a really bad deal (not great either) Except if I call somebody and they don't answer but it rings over 5 times or so, when I hang up I still get charged a dime. This doesn't happen every time but a lot, if it rings 5-6 times and they pick up, even if I just say "on my way" I get charged .20 cents. it add's up. 5 bucks for 200 texts isn't a bad add-on and $20 for 3000 N&W is great besides that not so good. They offer like $15 is bonus minutes for every hundred you spend, but hoenstly $115 isn't good for how many minutes you get.

If you talk a decent amount Virgin is good, they have carry over minutes for I think 90 days, $30 bucks will get you 500 minutes which is the cheapest I've seen. They don't have a great selection of phones which is why I went with AT&T.
