What are the benefits to having a g0 stepping quad?

I checked my cpu against the Intel site and it looks like I have a g0 stepping cpu. I see a lot of people in this forum that seem happy to get this revision - why does it matter?

there comes a time in a man's life, when he must face the ultimate question:
"Are you a G0 type of guy?"

while it is true that G0 quads are better tham "normal" B3 CPUs, it would only make a difference if you intend to O/C and push your CPU to its limits.

G0s have a higher sustainable temprature threshold, and so they tend to O/C better and overall they are supposed to run cooler than B3s.

identifying a G0 is fairly easy:
you can look at the box and look for a model number. it should be something like "SLA9X" IIRC.

if you already have it running in your computer, install CPU-Z and look for the Stepping field.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the info! I still have all the parts laying out in my living room so I was happy to see that I could easily check online what revision I had on the serial number sticker 🙂
