What are the benefits of Upgrading the linksys wrt54gs with a nonlinksys firm?

I just got it after recommendation, but whats the advantage?

Try and get a WRT54GS with a serial number prefix of CGN5 or lower. But CGN6 works fine as well.

When you flash these routers with uber firmware like DD-WRT it turns a piece of $hit into a bar of gold. Read the wiki page and visit the forums at http://www.dd-wrt.com/

i got it, but they only had the cgn6.

-being able to bump the radio amplification from 28mW to 2xxmW (a max of around 70mW is recommended.
-WDSsupport
-WPA2 support
-routing protocol support


and a bunch of other stuff.

It's really a win win
