What are the advantages of ide raid ata vs sata ?

IDE and SATA are very similar at this point, when it comes to overall performance.

SATA is nicer for the smaller cables, and the ability to "hot swap" drives, for example. They also have a higher "theoretical" speed. There's a lot of factors involved, but basically, there is not a large difference between them - right now. I'd get SATA because it's more future proof, though, plus you don't have to worry about the old "master/slave" issues anymore.
