I'm looking for two prices: Cheapest DVD-R and DVD-R/RW drives

I actually have no money for either, I can't even spare $100 BUT that doesn't change the fact that I need one... Desperately! I don't care about the speed or alternative formats.

I would imagine that a really early Pioneer drive would be the cheapest DVD-R drive. Either that of the DVD-RAM/DVD-R Panasonic drive! 😀

Pricewatch isn't very helpful (I see nothing older/cheaper than the DVR-A03/103)

What are your needs? Do you need DVD-RW or DVD-RAM?

If you want DVD-RAM/-R then the Panasonic LF-D311. If DVD-RW/-R then Toshiba or Pioneer.

Anyways, I know what you mean about NEEDING DVD-R. My last vacation I took 500 pix, at 2 MB for each JPEG file (4 Megapixel). That's over a GB of pictures on one vacation.
