Greetings

I tried a lot of Google already, but couldn`t find an answer.

Could anyone tell me what does the 3 green leds on top of the Sapphire 5770 mean? They seem to be POST leds, but what are they testing exactly?

I`m asking because my new card gets two leds green pretty fast, but the third one takes quite a while to light up. As the new rig I just assembled is BSODing when I try to install Windows (and the Asus motherboard post pcie led gets red for a few seconds during boot), I`m trying to find out the culprit and rule out the graphics card.

many thanks

Oh, so they turn red too.
That's good to know, I just saw green, although sometimes the third green takes ages to appear.

So, does anyone know what the LEDs are telling us?

I have the same video card. I have no problems so far. I run it on Gigabyte P55-UD3R and it runs great. I searched what the green leds mean but couldn't find the answer.
In my case, only the first led is lit up. The second and third blink really fast like a hard disk led. I think they may indicate something like voltage, frequency, shader activity, i/o activity or so...

Anyone else has an idea???

I have 3 greens with one rapidly flickering on my Vapor-X. Using HDMI.

I think 3 greens means it's connected with the mothership.

Correction: I have 2 green LEDs, when any kind of load is indroduced the 3rd one lights up and flickers.

lol, well unless you're having problems it's not too important; could just be for assisting technical support in diagnosing problems.

I agree! But that's the point. If it is intended for any kind of support or troubleshooting then i should know about it and use that knowledge. And that's exactly what i am trying to do here...

Found this from googling

http://www.overclock.net/ati/417014-sapphire-4850-led-codes-2.html

same with mine?
Can any one confirm this is ok?
PS I found this.

@

When Leds are on(lit) they mean:

HD3870 LEDs

R53 Green Led Off - shows critical temperature fault
MR53 Red Led On - shows External power connector was removed

HD4850 LEDs

D1601 - Over temp protection enabled

D1602 - EXT 12V fault

HD4870 LEDs

D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault

D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed

D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed

D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault

HD4870X2 LEDs

Have not manage to locate them. (will update post once it is)

At BOOT/POST, the card's fan will spin @ 100% for a short while and 3 of the 4 LEDs will light up for a brief period and then go out ( D601 should remain unlit ). This is NORMAL behavior as the card is performing it's own type of POST test.

I will continue to update this with more information. Not only will it be on the LEDs, but I will also update with other helpful information for diagnosing problems (might come as different threads, depending on topic).

Hey!

I too have that card and those 3 green lights are lit, so I e-mailed Sapphire enquiring as to the meaning of those lights and I got this response from them
