I'm starting to prepare the anniversary present for my wife, and I'm plannging to shop for jewerly this year(she is 25 yrs old).

One of my goals is to go to a store to look for something that she might like, but I also want to pick well known jeweler. This year, something with a good brand name is very important to me.

I'm not talking about "JCPenney jewlery," or "Sears Jewerly." I'm talking about a famous nationwide jewerly store. I checked online and they do not have Tiffany in my state. What other famous alternatives are there?

"He went to Jared!" "OMG he went to Jared!"
"OMFGBBQ!!one, he went to Jaaarreeeeed!"

That's the only thing that comes to mind. That commercial. No idea if the place is good or not. I'm a kid.

Tiffany, Cartier, Shreve Crump and Low. I've never had any problems with either of them and they have very good post-purchase support.

they better for the markup they have.

With any purchase that large, you pay more for the name than the product.

Just make sure it's not a blood diamond

True, but these are one of few stores that I have gone into where the salespeople are fully knowledgeable in their field - and I appreciate the step-above-wikipedia type knowledge so, I feel that I am more willing to pay the price for pre sales and post sales service. There are some people who are very knowledgeable and know what they want to buy and don't need post service, they would be wasting their money at the 3 mentioned places.

you can go to zales, but ask for the diamond certificates. they compromise diamond quality for price... same for the gold too.

any mall department store, you will not find a "great" deal or superior quality. but if you want national... zales or kay.

Costco. They carry some nice stuff and prices are very good. At least you know the max markup is less than 15%. Their return policy is unbeatable as well.

I bought everything for my wife at Littmans. I've seen them in various east coast malls.
