What are some ways to watch videos from a flash drive/external HD on the TV?

Well I know that there are DVD players that have a usb port, which allows to do this.. But are there any cheaper ways? (I am also interested in more expencive options as long as they add something that is worth paying money for)

The Xbox 360 will play most but not all Divx videos.
