What are some programs that use SSE2?

Games or otherwise. Just trying to see the benefits of SSE2. Thanks in advance.

Alot of Adobe Photoshop and After Effects filter plugins have been updated for SSE2. Lightwave 6.5 code utilizes SSE2.

Apparently, upcoming games like id software's Doom3 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein'll utilize both SSE and SSE2.

In light of that then most gamers should go the intel route. Thanks I think I can finally make a processor decision.

Doom 3 wont be out for another 2 years, You will be needing an upgrade anyways by then. Plus, in 2 years, AMDs will probally have SSE2 instructions (the A4 will have SSE). I dont think I would make a CPU choice over this factor. Im not saying the P4 wont make a Sweet ride, it will, just this shouldnt be you deciding factor, IMO.

Considering that after the price cut p4 and athlon systems will be about the same price (difference of a couple hundred), so the deciding factors are performance and features. From my research I have concluded that the p4 is fastest in games (though not on a clock for clock basis. Im still confused by this).
