about half of my team is missing due to the upcoming memorial day holiday and there's really not much to do.

I feel like I'm not furthering my skills. My job is secure and I have backup plans already set up for the worst case scenario.

I spend my downtime day trading stocks and researching/reading about useless crap. I also spend some time doing training provided by my company.

can you relate?

neffing and playing wow is where ill be if i can get this other project done in a couple hours. im already neffing while working on it, so im halfway there... of course id probably be done a lot sooner if i stopped reading this board...

Clean up your work area.

I bet you didn't want a suggestion like that. 😛

pcslookout or fritolays, I think.

And to the OP - if you're in software (I'm unsure), you should have personal projects with which to fill your spare time - something that may be tangentially useful to your job, but you need to find it interesting.
