And losing your hearing while it's printing...

edit: I'm wasting resources right now by posting at work.

Anorexic people don't eat.. bulemic I believe is the term you are looking for

Hmm. There's plenty in aviation. Weather is the biggest one. Recently we launched a 727 from Anchorage to Shemya AFB, which is the last ALeutian Island (almost). 1500 miles one way. That leg burns 29,000 pounds of fuel. Plane gets close to Shemya... weather went bad, plane couldn't land so it diverted to Adak. (another 15,000 pounds of fuel). Plane gasses up, Shemya weather is still bad... so the plane came back to Anchorage. Completely wasted trip. Total fuel used? About 60,000 pounds. Total elapsed time, 7 hours. I'd say that's a spectacular waste of resources; sadly sometimes it simply isn't avoidable.
Jet fuel is measured in pounds?

Edit: I guess that kinda makes sense...

The company I work for is SO inefficient. If I could revamp their system, they could cut their workforce by 50% tomorrow and save loads.

Believe it or not, at my old place of work, we had to buy soundproof cases for those dot matrix printers.

If $$ == Resources then:

My company decided to switch to Oracle from MySQL primarily for marketing reasons. They used the excuse of it's robustness, view support and replication without doing any technical research for our need.

Oracle Rack: $1mil
Dev time to convert our app to work with Oracle: $1mil
Never-ending Headaches from Oracle's quirks: priceless.

No, it doesn't. The metric system, however, does.

People printing everything. I don't understand why everything needs to be printed. Usually older folks are most often guilty of this...
