Hey guys. I'm wanting to get into some new music, and am into more of the softer side of rock. Are there any lesser-known bands out there that aren't too popular, yet sound really good? I'm looking for some rock similar to Nickleback, Hoobastank, and Default.

Union

Check out their website here Both albums are good but their second studio recording The Blue Room is the better of the two.

I am going to recommend bands, and you have to promise me that you are going to listen to them.

30 seconds to mars
From Zero
Onesidezero

Download those and when you want more, i'll be happy to share. Take this from a guy that has been listening to incubus for 8 years and hoobustank for 5.

Less known . . . hmm.

KMFDM (as well as their splinter bands MDFMK and Slick Idiot.)

Widespread Panic.

Veruca Salt.

Sister Machine Gun.

Mona Lisa Overdrive.

My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult.

Gravity Kills.

Machines of Loving Grace.

(I have weirdly esoteric taste, so you might not like some or all of these. :D)

Mandalay

Forgot the person who advised me to try them, but i'm glad he did. And although they're not exactly unknown, The Sundays are very good as well.

The Deftones are the greatest band ever. They've been around for a long time, and I guess they're lesser known because they've never become really popular[main stream].

queens of the stoneage
glassjaw
converge (this is more hardcore than rock)
the dismemberment plan (fruity pop/post-punk, totally unique, i love it)
Drowningman (again, border on hardcore)
pg99 (your ears won't stand a chance)
18 visions (trustkill hardcore - for those that like more mainstream hardcore)
poison the well (trustkill again)
pavement
haste
sw1tched
the icarus line
at the drive-in
les-savy fav
that should keep you busy for awhile

d/l glassjaw- "her middle name was boom" its one of their softer tracks, but also one of their best. Also check out The Used- "on my own" its another great "softer" rock song.

Virtually any 30STM song is good, but i recommend "Mission", "Echelon", "The reckoning" to get started.

From Zero just plain kicks ass. Any song you get will not dissapoint. I recommend "The Otherside" "Undeniable" and "check ya"

Onesidezero also kicks ass, get anything. "instead laugh", "eight" "tapwater"

Get this stuff
