What is the reason for wanting a TPC? The Toshibas are considered the top of the line in performance, and has the largest screen. Some people prefer a smaller screen (=lighter machine, longer battery life).

PC Magazine's latest issue has a lot of info and reviews on TPCs, you can check it out here

I got a Toshiba three weeks ago, I love it.

I have the compaq one, it's very very nice. The design is very eye pleasing too. I've used it a few days at work before I go back to school, and it's amazing. You can use it in the regular laptop mode, then pull the slate off to go walking around with wi-fi.

You do have to deal with the Transmeta Crusoe if you are worried about having the fastest tablet on the block though.

I have been able to handle the tablet from Compaq and Acer, and I have seen the Toshiba. I found the Compaq tablet to be pretty heavy, even without the keyboard connected, and I didn't care for it's design. The Acer definately is the lightest of the three and works very nicely. I haven't been able to use the Toshiba, but our customers have reported that the LCD seems to be brighter than the Acer's. Otherwise the Toshiba seems to be about the same as the Acer designwise. I know these opinions are related to the design, but that is a big part of the new tablet design, a computer that is meant to be carried around. The current Acer's may be lacking featurewise, there are supposed to be some new ones coming out that support a gig of memory and are faster (duh, like they would make a new model slower), but I don't have the details as to when they are coming out. I did like the pen for the Compaq, though the Acer comes with two and I haven't been able to try out the larger pen.

I work in Distribution, and though there is a large demand for the Toshiba I am seeing alot of the Acer product move thru the doors. From what I understand they were first to market an now are selling some 2nd generation product.

Keep in ind Panasonic will soon have the CF-18 Toughbook Tablet which would be my choice for its durability.
