What are some of the benefits of cloning humans?

If you were to clone yourself... and your other half were to die, hopefully you would be able to live on etc etc.

Kinda like the Seventh Day.

You can make your clones do yardwork, homework, and chores while you sip lemonade and roam on anandtech :)

If someone gets sick, we just cut up our clone and take what we want... I don't see a problem with that.

oh wait, whoops... I forgot about the soul.

i think the most ethical thing would be cloning organs. it's a compromise between full fuman cloning and no clonig at all. also, imagine the benefit: bad ticker? you dont have to die, you can get it replaced, etc...

What if your clone gets sick, needs a spare part and all the clones get together to carve an organ out of you? They would be perfectly justified. They would be humans with the same rights you have.

We cant do it, at least not without disasterous results.

That said, the practical use would be for parts as has been pointed out.

I can understand wanting to make extra parts, but when you clone something, it becomes another human.

I mean, you can clone the genetic makeup of a person, but this person will not have all the same expressive traits. It would be a unique human right? Therefore, shouldn't the clone have the same rights as a normal person?

Cloning isnt as simple as most people think.

But 3 billions used to be a huge number.

I say try typing 3 billion words, without a single mistake. And if that is possible, then cloning is possible.

if it would work without problems, which it doesn't i would stick with body-parts, as long as transfering consciousness doesn't work.
i would never asume my clone being me, cause it is/has another counsiousness. some things would be the same, but humans are not only shaped by the genes, but also by the expiriences made, the surroundings etcetc.
well if i had a clone, that was like me, with a copy of my councioussnes we would end up killing each other...

We can close some individual body parts, but not a fully functional human. I don't see any problem with growing parts, maybe a new heart or set of lungs would be nice, while others could use a whole new brain ;)
