What are some names that you should never give your children?

Got a group email today from one of the VPs and I noticed there was someone named Ethel in the CC line. Unless it's the 1940's naming your daughter Ethel seems like a sure fire way to murder the kid's ongoing social life. Barney seems like another name that should be avoided at all costs. And of course Gaylord goes without saying.

Taylor
Chase
Dallas
Gunner
Hunter
Todd

Basically if it's not on George Carlin's list of good names, it's not on mine either.

A season. Never ever name your kids a season. And Brianna is the 17th most popular girls name for 2003. I think that's a pretty bad name. And Jasmine - that's just asking for her to be a stripper or something. LOL. I have weird associations with certain names.

Got a good looking wife with a hot bod? Name your daughter Candy so we can watch her take it off 18 years from now.

"Your name's Gaylord Focker?" :p

Just about any female name that ends in "i" (Brandi, Vicki, etc.)

"Old-fashioned" names (Edith, Martha, etc.)

"Pretentious asshole"-sounding names (Taylor, Hunter, Chase, etc.)

"Who the fsck would name their kid this?!?" names (Camera, Moon, Apple, etc.) These are all real examples that I've heard.

"Porn star/stripper"-sounding names (Lexus, Krystal, Candy, etc.). My wife had a friend named Candy, who ended up being....you guessed it, a stripper.

Well, sometimes it is unintentional... My sister named her son Kierin after her, Kim, and her husband, Erin. Then after everything was said and done, she tells all of us, then we say, Isn't that a Japanese beer?

Not to mention it can have future concequenses that just can't be anticipated... like myself for example, Ed Tsai.... I can't tell you how many times after seeing my initials if people asked if I have phoed home yet....

But as for your question, I would think anything that is an object, each other, or not even a word in any lanquage. Things like Apple Paltrow, Dweezle and Moonunit Zappa, George Forman's sons, George I-IV, and MJ's kida, Prince Michael Jackson I and II, and ESPN McCall.

For boys, these just don't work well:
Chester
Harold
Howard
Norman

For girls, old names seem to be in, but I would avoid them (as well as the porn names listed. Here's a few names of girls I know that have been born recently:
Eleanor (its a car, now, not a name)
Margaret
Herlene
Anesly

finally...a family on my street just named their daughter Princess! C'mon, its a nickname or a dog's name, not a name for your kid. To those of you who are thinking that Princess must be black, she's not. She's as WASP as they come.

You guys need to stop bashing the name Chase. My son's name is Chase. He is NOT an pretentious a$$hole. He's insanely nuts, but not pretentious.

God forbid you name your kid Ethel rather than let her be one of the 450 Ashleys in her school. Names are fads just like everything else and I rather appreciate that at least some parents resist the fad of the moment.

Yes, it was hot. No, they didn't let anyone watch.
