Now that Operation Anchorage is out, I am thinking of replaying, what are some must have mods for Fallout 3 that has come out since GECK was released?

There is a mod to remove the weight limit. I didn't realize how gay the weight limit was until I played Fallout 3 on Xbox and I had to warp to town every 4 minutes due to the weight limit.

I prefer the mods which boost sniper rifle.

First of all there is some bug with the crosshairs of the sniper rifle scope causing it to consistently undershoot. Download a new nif file to fix that.

Then I went and further boosted the sniper rifle to make it as powerful as it should be with a slight boost in damage, big boost in accuracy and increasing the zoom of the scope.

It is very fun using the sniper rifle now and it's not unbalancing because the rifle fires slowly and its bullets are rather rare

The most important one is increasing the weight limit or nixing it entirely. You waste way too much time making trips to sell shit. Along those line there are quite a few mods that change weights of items to more realistic values.

Also, anything that simplifies the repair process. I think I saw one that automatically combines all units of the same type instead of having to click one at a time. This is good for those 200 hunting rifles you come across.

I believe the game is quite well balanced but if you really dont like the level cap you can find several ways to lift it or extend it. The problem is you will also need one to make some enemies tougher or else the game is a joke.

I found a few that improve the abilities of the powered armor, which makes sense because they are supposed to be so much better than everything else.

If you know of one that gets rid of the stupid computer and lock mini-games I would love to see it. Those things really just slow down your exploring.

Improving run speed is a good one too. It wont unbalance the combat but it will speed up everything else. I think you can adjust that with a console code though.

There is a useful one called the Darn UI mod, which makes all the big fonts smaller and lets you see more entries at once in various on-screen lists.

The weight limit was annoying at first, but I have gotten used to it now. The key is to only pick up things with a good weight/value ratio, like at least 1:10 or 1:15. Maybe I'll try out that mod for it though.

Is anyone using the improved texture mod? I haven't tried it out yet. The best thing would be if the guy who made the Oblivion texture pack created a similar one for this game (the existing one is made by someone else). The textures in that mod were amazing.

Improving run speed is a good one too. It wont unbalance the combat but it will speed up everything else. I think you can adjust that with a console code though.

I am playing the game with the iFPS microstutter fix (IMO the game is simply intolerable without it), which has the side effect of making everything go at double speed when the framerate is over 60. This is actually a good thing most of the time though, as it means you waste a lot less time running around between places. It does mess up the lipsyncing and alt-tabbing, but it's still better than the alternative.
