What are some groups similar to Black Sabbath?

I admit I'm kind of late in starting my rock education but I'm slowly catching up. Currently I think my favorite rock song of the moment is Planet Caravan.

Anyway who are some other groups that are similar to Sabbath? (with the slow, groove heavy type of feel)

Off the top of my head, I would say some Soundgarden and Alice In Chains stuff would fit that criteria for slower dirgey stuff.

Also there's the stoner rock genre which might also be up your alley. Kyuss, for example.

Well, Black Label Society will be close. It's run by Zakk Wylde who was a guitarist for Ozzy for years.

Other bands to check out would be Corrosion of Comformity, Down(Phil from Pantera), and Fight(Rob Halford from Judas Priest).

I've been exploring a little bit of doom metal/stone rock and some of its good but it does'nt come close to the original (Blaxk Sabbath) at least from what I've heard so far. I still have'nt heard Kyuss yet but I've heard really good things about them.

CoC and Down are good choices too. CoC - Clean My Wounds is one of my favorite songs, although not really that Sabbathy.

Check out a band named Pentagram, they sound just like Black Sabbath. You also can't go wrong with B.L.S. or Pantera. In fact Pantera does a cool cover of Planet Caravan.

If you like Sabbath you should go check them out at Ozzfest this year, Judas Priest is there too. I don't think Ozzy is going to be up for to many more concerts. I've seen them live more than a few times and they usually have a great show. But like I said, in the past few years Ozzy has really been going down hill....poor old guy, his wife works him to hard.
