What are some good ways to speed up Windows XP?

From experience, the only service I turn off is auto update. For some reason, every time I turn off system restore, Windows gets trashed within a month or two. Very strange since I have never used it.
 
Format and install 2k instead. Anyway, disable the automatic updater service, the background intelligent transfer service, messenger service, turn off disk indexing and offline files for a few suggestions. Then go to tweakxp.com
