What are some good ways to rack up "extra-curricular activities"

I'm most likely going to be applying to transfer into another university program next year. I've been told it's very competitive academically, and that all successful applicants have strong extra-curricular achievements.

Does anyone have any tips on how I could go about getting involved in some extra-curricular activities? Like volunteer work, and things like that.

Any help is appreciated, or any tips/past experiences!

I played intramural sports (basketball and volleyball) along with winning the class representative election.

Honestly its kind of late to have extracurriculars that look impressive in time for you transfer. Schools not only look for that you participated, but also you have stuck with it for a long time and have shown interest in leadership positions. That being said, you should look into your local hospital, shelters, and free clinics. They are always looking for volunteers for odd jobs and they actually do want your help. It might be kind of pointless to join a group at your current school this late but most schools have tons of clubs that participate in community outreach activities. Ask around and see what they are doing.

Usually, colleges will let you form your own organizations/clubs/whatever if you have 6/7 people- make your own ATOT club, meetings every night. 😉
