Yep, I second this idea :)

A kit one would be best, something you can make together, and he can see his work come together, and then get to play with it :)

what is your budget?

About $100 - $150 or so.

gamecubes have dropped below $100 w/ that zelda collection(does not include wind waker).

i don't think that is considered that techie though.

He has a Dreamcast and his own computer with a network DSL connection.

i think a gameboy advance is more suited for a 4-5 yr old, not a 7 yr old

Remote control anything comes to mind or a laptop for a 7 yr old. Nothing fancy.. just a pentium 2 or 3 laptop

Kids love 2 way radios also.

Thanks, he'll enjoy that. He has a similar PC game that he enjoys (I don't recall the name) but this one looks more interesting.

I'd like to get him slot cars but we don't have any space for it - we use our basement as living area.

My 9 year old daughter wants iQuest (LeapFrog). I think my mom is going to buy it for her upcoming b-day.

Robotix - I'm pretty sure they are still around and the sets are designed for different age brackets starting at 6 or 7 years...
