What are some good RTS and FPS games?

another really amazing game that I was addicted to is Savage by s2 games. I believe the 2nd one is out now. It mixes in RTS and FPS as one... a single commander in RTS mode will direct all other players in FPS mode. A cursor command from the commander will show up as a giant tower of light to the FPS player telling them to go there, build, hold ground, take over strategic locations, etc...

I tried opposing fronts, and its a fun game, but unfortunately it shuts the PC off by itself... no other game did that to me.
 
Dead Space isn't an FPS per se, but there's a lot of shooting involved. I grew up with FPSs and although the over-the-camera perspective is a bit annoying at times, I tend to forget about it when I'm shooting something. Overall it does a great job of immersing the player in the game, it's very stable, there are definitely some cool features (alternate firing modes, weapon upgrades, dismemberment), and it's damn creepy. I'd recommend it. It's the only game where the only thought in my head is often "Kill it! Kill it with fire!"
