Witcher Enhanced Edition International is GOTY for me. 🙂 and if fits your bill PERFECTLY.

+1

One of the best games I've played in recent memory. I personally could do without the whole "lost memory and need to find out who I am" story, but the rest of the plot is quite interesting. The world really continues around you. There is no good/evil alignment. You are Geralt. All you have are your swords and your decisions. The decisions you make really affect how the game will play out. And you don't even realize it when you make that decision, as the effects might not be seen until much later in the game. There is no *wrong* decision. Just different choices. I found myself actually feeling bad for some of the characters affected by my decisions, getting to the point of saying "screw it, I'm not getting involved" but then finding that not easy either.

Someone above mentioned that it isn't a true RPG. Not sure I agree with that. Sure, the "level advancement" isn't as varied as other RPGs such as NWN... you can specialize in signs (magic), or enhance your swordplay. Not exactly wide-branching. BUT, the decisions and choices you make as to who your allies are, who to save and who you let die, etc... all those things will make your Geralt turn out much differently than my Geralt. You do role-play Geralt. It is more than just a hack-n-slash game.

There were a few mini games I thought were kinda silly (bar fights, dice poker, collecting of the "cards"), but they're optional (as are hunting down the various beasts to collect a trophy). The story is rich and engaging. And pretty long too. Great game. And if you don't like it, your mother sucks dwarf cock ;-)
