What are some good PSX games I might have missed?

Been a long time since I've played any PSX (playstation 1) games. I've got the urge to play PSX for some reason now. So suggest some good games I probably haven't played (ie not Metal Gear Solid and FF7). There were a ton of titles for PSX (probably over 2000) and there's no doubt some went under the radar.

Any kind of games are fine, even puzzle games.

Maybe not under the radar, but...
Castlevania:Symphony of the Night
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo
Ape Escape (the first one only)
Twisted Metal 2
The Lost Vikings
Crash Team Racing

Can't think of any more at the moment. Probably some Mega Man games as well, though I don't remember which ones were for the PSX.

I really enjoyed the Mega Man Legends series also, so thanks for recommending it. Even though I played them all, I'm one of the few people on the planet who has. First one was the best.

Not that you haven't played some of these but since you didn't mention it -- just in case you haven't :)

It's good to know I'm not the only person who thought they were good. It seems like a lot of people gave it crap for not being the standard 2D Megaman game. I'm still holding on to the hope that they'll make a third one.

Suikoden 2 is maybe the finest example of a traditional japanese console rpg that I've ever played. Great story, character design, and music. The enemy encounter rate is low, and there are many secrets to be found. Only downside is the mediocre graphics. The same applies to Suikoden 1, but as I recall it is much shorter and the graphics even worse.

Lunar is another outstanding rpg, originally from the Sega CD but ported to psx/saturn. Psx version is really good but much harder than the Sega Cd version, and the final boss is so hard it nearly ruined the game. Lunar II was also ported to psx but I only played the Sega CD version, which is awesome. Like Suikoden, these games aren't exactly pushing the graphical limits of the psx but if you can look past that you'll love this series.

FYI, these games have become cult classics and are still worth a lot of money. I haven't looked in a long while but I've seen Suikoden 2 go for over $120 on ebay

Good choice. Still play it occasionally.

Square was on top of their game back then so any Square game is going to be great. Here are a few less talked about Square games
Einhander - Awesome side scroller
Ehrgeiz - Alright fighting game with FF characters
Vagrant Story - One of the best Square titles ever made
Bushido Blade - First attempt at a realistic fighting game, one hit kills, limb crippling, free-form stages

Non-Square:
Tomba series
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Omega Boost
Resident Evil series
Megaman Legends 1/2 + Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Megaman X4, Megaman 8
Vigilante 8 Second Offense
