LOL. Ozone is simply O-3.

no byproducts
and it's in the air you breath.

The entire reason that ozone works is that it's an extremely powerful oxidizer. If it didn't react with things, it wouldn't work at all.

And I'd certainly hope that there's not much of it in the air that I breathe, considering that EPA clean-air standards are < 80 parts per billion.

wipe everything down. Steam clean carpets and seats. Amazing how much tar sticks to the insides of a smokers car.

A couple dryer sheets is a great suggestion from above

In one of my cars that had a lingering smoke smell, it really helped a lot when I partially removed / lifted up the center console and vacuumed under it. A lot of spare ashes ended up under there. I guess if you consider the previous owner probably spent a lot of time with the cigarette in their right hand on top of the center console, the ashes could find a lot of ways to get down past the ashtray and under the console.

Anywhere you can remove a panel, you can probably find ashes under it (assuming this car was really smoked in a lot or for a long period of time). Door panels, dashboard, the little covers/fillers over/around the radio/HVAC controls, HVAC vents, etc.

O3 is dangerous until it reacts with itself to form O2 or reacts with on chemicals to form other compounds.

My statement was based on findings that looked into the byproducts of ozone reacting with nicotine

Are you saying it is harmless? Because if you truly knew about the mere basics about ozone, it is well know that humans must stay away from ozone until it turns into oxygen gas or reacts with other chemicals. You would also have said it is a part of smog and and wrote a few paragraphs about the consequences of breathing that.

Also, because it is O3, it is highly reactive molecule that damages whatever can take that third oxygen molecule and become the more stable O2.

And perhaps you think I am fabricating this information too. So here is my advice. Buy an ozone generator, turn it on the max, and lock yourself in that room and take wonderfully deep breaths of it in the name of science to test if it truly is harmful or harmless.

O3 is dangerous, big deal. The intended use of the ozone generator is to run it with the car closed up for a day or so. Then you open it up and let it "air out".

But I just wouldn't buy a car that smelled like smoke....

What worked for me was to place open containers of vinegar in the car overnight for a few days.

The Problem with smoke smell in the car is that Tar lines everything! If you do not clean all surfaces and remove the tar then it will continue to smell no matter what you use.

Tar sticks to everything even behind the door panels. So any surface you see, needs to be cleaned and take door panels off and clean there too, as many places you can clean do it.

Then assess.

If you dont want to do all that try this.

^That's why you do the ozone treatment. Cleaning and other chemicals will not work. At all. You might mask the smell for awhile, but it will return.

Didn't realize ozone machines were so cheap. ~$150 gets you one good enough for a house.
