I'm going to be traveling a lot for my new job and I figured it might be nice to pick something up to keep me entertained. I know the DS is wicked popular. What are the best games out there for it?

Do you have any genre preferences?

I'm more of a PSP guy myself, but I know my wife loved Brain Age, Partners in Time, and Pokemon.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Bros
Phoenix Wright (it's quirky, and it's not for everyone)
Final Fantasy III

And for the GBA:
Advance Wars
Advance Wars: Black something

I don't really have any preferences. I the last game I played was Zelda: Oracle of Ages(?) for gameboy color. I just need something that's good for wasting time. I've already got Mario Kart: Advance is DS better/different from that?

Yep. More tracks is the main difference. Online play is also a bonus.

Puzzle Quest
Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Am I the only one who found FFIII boring? I played about 6 hours and I just couldn't bring myself to finish the game, which is rare for me.

The start of it is quite boring but it picks up after a while.

No, I'm about to start the quest for the 4 stone/crystal thing, and I'm bored out of my mind. I'll finish it someday.

On a sidenote, WTH is every pokemon game story exactly the same?

I'll have to get Mario Kart then, and probably New Super Mario Bros as well. I've heard Advanced wars for GBA was good but I lost my GBA before I got a chance to pick it up.

Is Final Fantasy III the same final fantasy III for SNES? I started playing that one awhile ago but ended up getting nowhere and quitting.

Final Fantasy III for the SNES is really Final Fantasy VI. Final Fantasy III for the DS is a remake of Final Fantasy III for the NES.

I got pretty deep into FF III for the DS, but temporarily lost interest. I'll probably come back to it once I'm done with FF II on the PSP.

This is probably a good time to point out that the GBA library is pretty good, and shouldn't be ignored.

And the GBA library includes FF IV (II in US), V and VI (III in US). Not enhanced graphics like FF III. It also includes Final Fantasy I and II, both with graphics enhanced to the level of Final Fantasy II (US) on the SNES.

Those are the *exact* games I own, except replace Phoenix Wright with Castlevania...

All of them are good.

Castlevania.....either one for the DS. And after you've played those you might be tempted to get the GBA double pack. That is good too.

Puzzle Quest.

Mario Kart.

Sims 2 kept me busy for a while, FFIII is great, im stuck at the last battle, I am playing Pokemon Diamond right now and its ok, Metroid Prime hunters was ok if hard to control. Super Mario DS is good as is the Zelda game from the SNES days.
