What are good food choices for a diet thats low in fat and/or calories? I bought Nutrition for Dummies but I don't feel like reading it.

I'll start:

I like to eat at Subway. I can get a tuna sub (no mayo or cheese) with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, olives & a little salt/pepper for flavor; or a turkey sub with mustard and same veggies.

I can't tolerate eating fruits or vegetables by themselves, except bananas and possibly grapes. I woudl rather drink them as juice (ie: orange juice, V8). I HATE salad.

also:
Cereal with skim milk
Low-fat yogurt

Tuna
Boneless, Skinless chicken
any sort of non-breaded fish(Halibut, orange roughy) that you can bake or grill
most turkey products are very lowfat (compared to a beef or pork product)
pretzels
pastas
multi-grain breads
bagels(wheat and multigrain again)

If you are trying to lose weight, take into account the carb/sugar content as well. Low fat food usually is high in sugar content.

Food is only good if it contains meat, fat, sugar, caffiene, salt, or is breaded...hehe.... In fact, those are the food groups!

I'd go with drinking water and fruits. If you don't like fruit like you said then I don't know. Rice and pasta is always a good filler. Just boiled rice by the way.

Your allowed about 90g of fat per day as an adult. I think I manage about 60g IF THAT on most of my days. This is because I eat a lot of rice and drink a lot of water. I also eat a lot of fruit and hardly ever snack on crisps, chocolate and cakes etc.

Good luck. I'd sugest drinking more water then fruit drinks though and exercising to lose fat.....
