What are some good GameCube accessories?

I just picked up a GameCube last night with an extra controller and the Mario Kart racing game. What are some other goodies to pick up? I haven't owned a game console in who knows how long. Do they make s-video adapters for these systems? What kind of memory card(s) should I get? Any good DDR equipment available for it? Fire away! 😀

There's a progressive scan/component video cable for it, but it is kind of hard to find.

Get a huge memory card (the offbrand kind, like the madkatz or whatever one with like 4000 blocks). I've never had any problems with offbrand memory cards and they're cheeeeeap as hell. You can get Mario DDR...I've never played it but I imagine it's a lot like regular DDR. There are a lot of good pads out there for PS2 and Xbox but I don't know if they have any good ones for Gamecube yet.

get zelda, metroid prime 1/2.
im sure deals can be had... and you have to get resident evil 0 and 1 if you like the series.

edit: my reading skillz sux0Rs. you wanted accessories? cant help you there i only have one nintendo memory card...

The Wavebird, GameBoy Player and the GC component cables are the best accessories for the GC.

I didn't really like the Wavebird when I played it. It was heavy and it didn't seem as responsive as a wired controller.

😕

If anything, it's the same weight, possibly lighter. You're taking away the servos for the rumble feature but adding the batteries.

wavebird, the HUGE memory card, the component cable (if you got a newer gamecube, the port will be blocked/removed - i remember you can call nintendo about it and ask for a refurbished one that can accept the component cable), ZELDA, etc.

I'd pick up a controller extender, or a wireless wavebird.

If you have a Gameboy Advance, I'd also suggest the GBA to GC adaptor.

Extra memory cards.

And maybe the audio/video cable upgrades. =)

Yea, it doesn't feel any heavier to me. And maybe it's just me, but it seems like the joystick doesn't wear out like my wired controllers.

Yeah I just picked up a Platinum GameCube at Circuit City last night; where's the port located? I bet component would look pretty nice 🙂

How big is "huge" for a memory card? I found a 128mb model, is that the one?

I was surprised that the stock controller came with rumble functionality, that's pretty cool 🙂

New GC models don't have the component out port. As mentioned already, contact Nintendo to make arrangements for you to send back your GC and they will send out a refurb GC with the digital out port.

As for the memory card, try to get the Datel Memory Max Pro. It's an USB memory card. So you can backup your save games to the PC. But with a flash, you can actually play backed up games on your GC without any HW mods.
