I need some. For some reason it helps me study or do work. Any song with a words just takes me off what I'm doing.

Any recommendations for a song?

Pretty much anything by Vivaldi/Corelli (love their style). I also like a lot of Mozart's lesser-known stuff, the stuff with complicated names. :) His symphonies are good also. Beethoven has nice piano works and concertos, and Chopin's Nocturnes are great.

I like some of Mendelssohn's stuff, along with Schubert's, and Holst has his lovely Planets suite. Some Debussy, and I love Messiah by Handel.

I love everything Beethoven. Just when I thought I've listened through the symphonies and sonatas, a friend recommended Beethoven's quartets to me. WOW! I daresay that the quartets are Beethoven's most personal works. Anyway, the quartets are relatively relaxing; however, some movements can be extremely mesmerizing (particularly the slow movements in the Razumovsky Quartets and the Late Quartets).

If you have time, check out all of Beethoven's Quartets.

Start with these:
String Quartet No. 7, 8, 9 (Razumovsky)
String Quartet No. 10 ("Harp" Op. 74)
String Quartet No. 13 (Op. 130)
String Quartet No. 14 (Op. 131)
String Quartet No. 16 (Op. 135)

I personally enjoy most of Hayden's symphonies (epitomizes the classical symphony sound without the big name hits) as well as pretty much anything by Mozart.

I recently DLed the "Unanswered Question" by Charles Ives. It's good.

Pachelbel is good as was mentioned. I like anything by Beethoven. You might also try new age stuff, anything from Vangelis, Enya, some of Moby's older stuff, Robert Miles, Enigma, etc.

Here is some good stuff...

Mussurgsky - Picture at an Exibition... The Grand Gate of Kiev
Bach - Fuge in G minor
Copeland - Fanfare for Common Man
Tichelli - Blue Shades - very upbeat modern piece with alot of bluesy stuff in it.
Beethoven - 1812 Overature

John Williams -

The Goonies
Summon the Heroes (one of my personal favorites)
Back to the Future
Jurrasic Park

Holst -

The Planets
especially Jupiter

Richard Strauss - Die Fledemaus
Richard Strauss - Kurnigsmarsch(can't find it, but want it)

You are usually safe with anything by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Beethoven.

Bach writes a LOT of fuges that are pretty cool to listen too.
