What are some good blu rays to show off an HDTV?

yea basically anything on the Tier 0 or Tier 1 list

Avatar - still has some of the best PQ out there
Tron - soundtrack is amazing if you have a nice speaker/sup setup. the visuals are also very nice
Baraka - is great for PQ and its not really a movie so there is no plot, great for just demoing stuff
 
if you just want a nice demo get the demo disc 2.0 off avs. (i can find the link if needed). you can download it but it is ~40gb. but has great scenes for showing off PQ as well as some of the best scenes with bass and surround osund
 
Amelie or Micmacs are extremely visual movies .... they will look fantastic.
Otherwise 2001 a Space Odyssey is very visual... and it looks fantastic ....


Those are the 3 that I think really look the coolest on a giant screen in 1080p...

Also, band of Brothers ... or The Pacific .... both of those work great too .... but they are far more impressive with very loud audio ... especially during the scenes where there's heavy artillery shelling!
