You can break your arm falling on a grass field, do you think perhaps a combination of high speed and solid obstacles could produce a similar effect?

When you fall, you naturally put out your arms to break the fall but that is just a lot of force on your arms so that could be where it came from. I think there is a lot of wrist injuries too for the same reason. I've hurt my wrists a lot snowboarding never seriously but they hurt real bad. :)

I've only skied once, but it sure felt like my knees were going to break while I was snowplowing down a hill. I really need to learn how to stop by turning and going on the edge of the ski.

Went on a ski trip in scouts and the very first run a guy hit a tree and was out the rest of the trip. Doh!

On a sadder note, a bud went on a ski trip with a church group and a young girl was killed when she hit a tree.

I think if I was falling when during a skiing run I would just wrap my arms around my skis and curl into a ball...

I see two possibilities here:

1) You're making a joke and forgot to tell us
2) You've been watching too many cartoons.

well the only time i went skiing... when in doubt, i just fell over on my side. i didn't get hurt but it was annoying that the snow kept getting under my jacket. when ppl hit trees and other inanimate objects... do they not see it? or are they actually aggressively trying to stay up and steer outta the way?

If you're going too fast, even if you see the tree and fall down immediately, there's a fair amount of tumbling and sliding going on.

Death. I'm-just-kidding :D. I've only snowboarded, and I'd say common injury from that is sore ass.

Any injury is a common one in skiing....concussions, knee injuries, broken legs/arms...really anything can happen when you have the combination of speed and solid objects and people

I'd say it's a tie between knee and wrist for skiing. If you do any backcountry a common thing to happen is get your ski stuck under a root. Oh I can tell you that doesn't feel good. :(

I've broke both wrists (one of them twice) and my leg once + many, many concusions, sprans/twists, ect..

Snowboarders on the other hand, seem to have a lot of wrist and tail bone injury.

Anything is possible... just last week my friends saw a little boy going down the black diamond slope... he couldn't slow down... crashed into a tree and died on the way to the hospital

Hmm. Some common sense would tell me that ANYTHING on your body can be broken. I don't get how you don't see that. Anything in your car can break down, anything in your body can break too.

A new ski intructor can cause alot of injuries. About 20 navy guys went skiing in the Alps and they had never skiied before. Got the instructor to take them for lessons. Well, she turned down the wrong path right onto a double diamond. Lets just say she couldn't tell the guys fast enough to just fall down. 90% of them had some kind of injury from bruised ribs to broken arms. My brother had his hand ripped apart and required surgery. Lets just say that no one is allowed to go skiing when on leave.

Worst I've gotten is a mild concussion. I hit a tree while going through a tree-trail too fast. That was completely my own fault.
