My trusty New Balance 991's gave out about a year ago and in haste (I bought them for ~$50 on clearance, and at the time they died, there weren't any good prices) I replaced them with a 574. Anyway, the 574 is pretty comfy and actually held up better than the 991. But I'm in the market for a new shoe that is comfy for standing purposes. I figure in a typical shift, I'll be on my feet for 5-6 hrs. The 991s were the most comfortable shoes I've owned by far, but I'm looking to see if there are other alternatives. Otherwise I'll just have to hunt for some deals.

rockport world tour

most comfortable shoes i've ever owned. since i wear them all the time, they last a year or two before they're too damaged from rain etc. to wear anymore. i promptly go out and buy another pair. i'm on my 3rd pair so far. so yup, i've been wearing those shoes for 6 years, still love em.

edit: haha... i didn't even read blackdogdeek's response but

Ask a nurse. No one knows the most comfortable shoes like a nurse would. Maybe find a nursing forum online and check out the threads from male nurses discussing shoes?

Or ask savoyboy to ask his 'gay' brother

I couldn't think of a worse pair of shoes for your feet. All that cushion and arch support? Genius! (that being said I have owned dozens and dozens of Vans over the past 25years).

I really find A LOT of comfort in Keen shoes. I'm not too hip on their sandals, but their shoes, I have never had a more comfortable pair. And you get get casual dress ones too if you need them.

If you can get away with tennis shoes, get a pair of decent, properly fitting running shoes.

Fashionable people and most women know nothing of comfortable shoes.

i would recommend getting the NB 992 with superfeet inserts. Ecco is another brand i would recommend, but they're pretty pricey, and their sizes are in European sizes. ie. 41 is ~ to size 7 in US.
