What are some characteristics of a blown processor?

I just got a new 2200+ and when I popped it into the system and pressed the power nothing happened. The motherboard, fans, and everything turned on, but the monitor did not. And I know my vid card is fine. When I tried it a second time, though, the motherboard would turn on for a second and then shut off, like the fans would start spinning but immediately stop after a second. Does this sound like a f'ed up processor?

What motherboard? Is it the one in your sig? Try resetting the BIOS with the CMOS Reset jumper on the motherboard.
I can't find the CPU support list at Shuttle's site; they aren't doing a good job of making information about "old" products accessible.

Sounds a lot like the motherboard is turning off because it can't detect a CPU fan or a CPU temperature... check ur manual and make sure you plugged the fan on the processor into the CPU fan header on the mobo. You may be able to disable this with jumpers.

Do you have fans connected to the mobo fan headers? If yes try removing them and boot em up again. It could also be a problem with the PSU.

It does sounds like a fan/power issue here.

Make sure your CPU monitoring cable is plugged into the "CPU1" fan header, and leave the other fans out for now.

That's assuming you didn't pooch your CPU install. 😛

Unplug all the drives, but the one harddrive and try again...even the floppy.

When you try this, don't forget to unplug not just the power cable, but the data cable. The data cable is is more important, since it's the one connected to the MB.
