I need a nice quick easy read. Something that is popular wouldn't hurt :D

Basically I gotta write this essay comparing a book and a movie version of the book.

A simple easy read would be great as I gotta do this quick; a movie version of the book that is drastically different from the book would also help as well

please I need your help!

thanks

And the most recent adaptation has Keira Knightly to boot!

OP, probably like 75% of all movies are adaptations of books. Just find a movie you like and see if it's based on a novel.

Breakfast at Tiffanys. Good.

Starship Troopers. BAD! :|

The thirteenth warrior. Good. (Also known as Eaters of the Dead.)
Great Train Robbery. EXCELLENT.
Andromeda Strain. Good.
Congo. Dog shit.
Sphere. OK, could have been much better.

LA Confidential. Awesome.
And reading the book first then watching the movie WONT piss you off. They did an excellent job of condensing the story into a 2.5 hour movie. Even the author was impressed.

EDIT:
Dracula
Frakenstein

All the Jack Ryan flicks.

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
Black Hawk Down
Both are awesome movies. The first is especially thick if this is an English Paper. Plenty to go on.

Harry Potter, but all of them suck. Turned the otherwise excellent books into a bad Saturday Morning cartoon.

Starship Troopers was fun, but it barely resembles the book.
LOTR. Good movies, ridiculously good books, but the movies screwed with the plot/left out the best parts in the last 2 movies.

The Bourne trilogy
The Pursuit of Happyness (very easy read and pretty good too)
Blindness (coming out in movies next month I think)
The Devil wears Prada

I figured since most people would list mostly scifi here, I'd recommend some other options.

Black Hawk Down

The book is entertaining and a pretty easy read (easy to keep going and read it quick!) and the movie is highly entertaining. Although there aren't huge differences between the two, as say with the Bourne books/movies.

Actually, Sphere is probably the most direct book to movie there is - very little is missing from the movie that was in the book. Compared to his other popular books, it's rather good.

I am legend is a really short book and there are like 4 movies so that would be really easy to do.

I think it would be harder to come up with a list of movies that weren't books. (not saying they're rare, but I think the book based movies far outnumber them.)

It would be even harder to make a list of the movies made from books that didn't differ wildly from the book.
