Ok, so we now are entering the wonderful world of "trusted" computing, where the big companies have identified us, the consumer as the enemy and together with Microsoft, the various Governments around the world, legislation, legislators, courts, etc.. have changed the rules in the name of stopping piracy to take back control of many of our electronic devices is some shape or form and push the monopolistic envelope so that they can exert more control and make larger profits down the line.
What can we do?
Technically speaking, since hardware like AMD's Intel's, Ati's, NVidias, etc.. are all products of engineering.. and now the elements related to trusted computing are getting to be in everything, whether this goes in the name of hdcp, DRM, etc.. it all comes down to a usurping of power by the big companies over the equipment they sell to change ownership dynamics and control to our detriment.
Some will say.. but we need this to watch this or that.. but do we... what do you think the movie industry would do if these draconian controls did not exist.. stop selling their products.
The key to the Microsoft led control scheme to to marry hardware and software in such a way so that the ordinary consumer has no end control over what they possess, but instead has a machine possessed with controls by M$ and its gang that use terms such as "trust" or "security" or "piracy", but really are just using these names to make something so wrong, sound right and overcome objections to the power play they have been undertaking for several years now.. steadily moving forward and.. destroying potential innovation, ability to tinker, and competitition while limiting choices of consumers to increase the prices they can charge and profits they can make.
My question is.. anyone now how this is engineered and have any idea on how to wrest control back to the consumer?
Anyone know how to remove authorizations given by the "trusted" security solutions that take authority over various aspects of code or software or hardware from consumers, while granting incredible authority to members of their in groups.
In a practical way.. is there any hack or trick or hardware of software to avoid or implement in order to take back control of our pcs, and to stop this power grab?
rant!:disgust:
