Its for sale at circuit city for $199 after mail in rebate right now. I was thinking about purchasing it, but before I do I would like to get some feedback from people that have used it.

One hissue I see right off is that the res only goes up to 1280 X 1024, and I wanted to go to 1600 X 1200. Any suggestions for an alternate monitor if this one isn't that great?

Oh yeah, I'm also a poor high school student who takes down a whopping $450 a month at my job, so I really can't afford a monitor more than $300.

KDS-VS195? Probably runs $275.

I'd look into refresh rate support. I bought a cheap monitor once, and it didn't support much for refresh at 1024x768.

Look for some of the "$30 off $150" coupons at Buy.Com. Also, there is the 10% PointClick rebate that you can get from purchasing at some on-line retailers. From there, you could find lots of good monitors in the $200, or less range.

Are you more interested in shadow mask or Trinitron-type monitors?

Don't skimp on the monitor. What about saving for two months if ya can?

I think CTX makes some quite cheap ones like han888 said. They aren't the greatest but still are good for the price.

The KDS Visual Sensations line (value) might have some decent ones in too as jeremy806 stated.

Look at online retailers for places with free shipping, coupons, rebates, etc...
