What are my options for Xbox 360 Ring of Death?

So, my 360 just pooped out after a game of h3. I put a black case on it, so the MS seal is definetly broken. I've tried the towel trick a few times, but it seems like it automatically turns off after a short amount of time. Still flashes red. I know I can sell it on ebay, or is there a way that MS will still repair it?

put it back in the white case and they will fix it, trust me.

i've sent one back that had no seal and it came back fine, and i know about 3-4 other people who did it too.

sweet! whats the turnaround time on these from ms?
Experiences vary widely on that of late. Some of us had a hell of a time just getting the box sent out, others had a average turn around of approx. 3 weeks. My first return only took 12-14 biz days total, but I haven't seen many claim that in a good while.

Probably because so many people are breaking the seal themselves and sending it in for repairs...thus higher volume.

my recent one was about 2 weeks total. i was shocked they received my 360 and shipped it out w/in 30 hours.

Can't hurt to try and send it in. If that doesn't work, the X-Clamp mod takes about an hour and $5 in parts from Home Depot.

If MS really is replacing/fixing them with broken seals, do that. It's worth a shot. If not, you're probably better off just paying the $140-50 fee. The x-clamp mod seems temporary at best. Many people have to constantly tweak the mod to keep the system running properly, as one slight difference can get you another RROD.

I bought my XBOX 360 from my friend who had it registered under his name and address, I tried changing the info online, but it gave me an error. Has anybody bought a 360 and re-registered ? (REG is important for RROD)!!!
