Simple situation:

-1 year 2 months ago I purchased a couch from Rhodes using a Rhodes credit card
-3 months ago, the couch ripped on two cushions at the seams
-Rhodes is now out of business
-Couch had a one year warranty that does me no good because Rhodes is out of business

I am going to try and dispute the charges on the credit card tonight. Think I have a chance in hell at being successful?

Even if Rhodes was still in business I'd think you would have trouble disputing since you are reporting the product defect AFTER the warrenty has past.

so 11 months into a 12 month warranty it breaks, you dont do anything for 3 months, now you want to dispute?

If you had attempted to deal with the problem immediately I can understand, but at this point your couch is 14 months old and out of warranty, not much you can do, even if the rip occured during the warranty period, which you have no way to proove.

Actually I work fulltime and I tried to do something about it. I called the company that was taking over Rhodes warranty service. Came to find out they only took over the "extended" warranty service. Not the standard 1 year warranty.

I jumped through all the hoops trying to get rhodes to fix my couch. They are toast. I did all I could within the 12 month warranty period.

If needed, I can show phone logs and provide information showing I tried to get this fixed during the warranty.

Do I want a "free" couch. It isn't free because I have to replace it anyways. Why would I pay for something that it just going to get thrown out.

On another note, this is why keeping things short and simple sucks on here. I didn't want to do a 10 page essay on my trials getting this fixed. So of course people assume things that just aren't true. I didn't sit on my butt when this happened.

Once my warranty expired and I had gotten no where, I moved on to some more important issues honestly.

Why throw out a perfectly good couch? You can a new cover on it for a fraction of the cost of a new couch.

I doubt you'll have luck with the CC, but it can't hurt to ask.

if you had got it fixed under warranty they would have just given you new cushions or had someone fix the one you have.

you have had the couch a year and you want 100% of the money back? i do not see how that is fair and yes it is free since you have the couch and the money.

just get it fixed. it shouldn't cost that much.

I have no problem if the CC would rather fix it. Go right for it. The rips are not fixable. So what are the options. Recover the individual cushions. I think getting a fabric color match will be next to impossible.

Recover the entire couch. That is fine with me but I am not going to pay for that but if the CC will do that for me then I am cool with it.

I don't think it is right for the CC to get stuck with the bill but credit cards are there to protect the consumer. This CC company in particular made the deal with rhodes to offer credit to their customers.

I just want to get what is right. A fixed couch or I don't want to pay for something that isn't fixed.
