What are my chances that........

I am getting the final piece of HW today to complete my P4 system. I went with an abit bl7raid and a P4 1.6a. I currently have a full tower case from a-open and a 300w PSU from a-open with an asus p3v4x and a P3 1ghz slot 1, all slots full, 6 internal drives/cdroms and an internal 35/70 dlt. I never had a PS issue. What are my chances that I will not have to usea 12v P4 molex for the abit bl7 mobo? Should i even try not using one or do I risk screwing up the mobo if I dont use one? Thanks.

You have to use it. If you don't you risk instability and stuff. Better off to be on the safe side since you're getting a new rig and all.

Looking at your rigs page, are you telling me you've spend all this money on nice stuff and now you want to go cheap by saving $65 for a good power supply?

The 300w AOpen should work. What you do need is a 4 pin Molex to 4 Pin P4 adapter. It turns a standard power plug into one of the 2x2 12v plugs on the mobo.

Thanks, but I know this, I wanted to know if it is really neccessary to have it and if I run the risk of damaging anything if I dont. I will probably order it online anyway but I wanted to hook this puppy up tonight.
