Bought a TV from sears online(that was my first mistake btw, they suck, don't buy anything from sears). Tv was supposed to come with 2 free items. I ended up getting charged for one of em. Anyway, I talk to customer service and 5 people basically tell me 5 different things. One says that the charge will eventually be dropped once the order is complete, but I didn't really get the feeling that she knew what she was talking about.

The tv is being delivered sometime, and I picked up the 2 "free" items in-store yesterday. Aside from the chaos in the store and people getting so angry and rude that their items weren't being brought out from the warehouse, I got my stuff and found an electronics department manager to talk with. Basically, he had no idea why I got charged, and said there was nothing he could do, and that I should call sears.com customer service again.

Ok...so I think my CC is being charged twice, once for the TV, and once for the other items(s). If I keep getting ran around with sears, will my chase mastercard help me out? I don't really want to sit on the phone with them and ask unless it is time to actually dispute it. Thoughts?

I can't see it being an issue as long as you have the documentation of the two items being free.

Well I have screenshots of the website offer, and the order confirmation shows one of the items being free, the other $206.99

Yea if sears will not help do a charge back on that 1 item and give good documentation to your CC.

any documentation specifically? I have screenshots of the Tv item page which lists the special offer, stating that certain item numbers will be free with purchase. I have my confirmation that shows 1 of the items being free, while the other I got charged for. The deal is currently off the page, I believe the deal ended today, the end date was listed in my screenshots I believe.

anything else I should try getting?

Sounds like you've got everything you need. I would call Sears customer service for their e-commerce site first before disputing the charge on the CC. They probably can't do anything in store for you because you purchased it online. It is the Christmas season though. Be prepared to be on the phone awhile.

I would say this is more a Sears issue than the CC. Since you have the item, it might be hard to get the CC to discard the charge since it's an ad issue.

sears customer service is really not helping at all. I'm assuming the people I've talked to are temp workers for the holidays, and they really don't know much about anything. I guess once I get the tv next week I'll weigh my options again

To dispute it with the C.C. company it's going to take about 5 days for the charge to show up on their end. First you call them up and tell them you want to dispute it and then print out some forms from their website. Write it all up and send it back. The ad should be good enough proof so long as the address bar is showing up.

In the mean time I'd take the ad in to the store and talk with a manager first.
