Depends on you. I don't have a laptop right now, but when i did I had a 19" monitor i used for dual display. I also used a decent mouse. Tis stuff is more for at home using it, but you get the idea. It also depends on what your laptop came with. Do you need external drives or stuff like that?
mouse, floppy, printer, retractable network cables, one of those nifty USB fans or a USB light. An extra battery would be a good idea if you do a lot of travelling.
I have the Centrino technology in my Inspiron 8600, I live in a condo any ideas on were I might be getting a wireless connection from? The signal is low but at times I can connect wirelessly...also how unsecure is it
I don't find a mouse is a must. try trackpoint 😉 and experience yourself. if you type alot, you will find trackpoint is the best. I don't have to move my hand position for hours literally. I do need a mouse when I play game
i have one of those nifty USB keyboard lights, comes handy esp. with a laptop and i'm lying in bed before going to sleep and don't have a bedside light 😀
external drives rock, just so you reduce the stress on crappy notebook drives.
the most important accessory is.....USB hub. its so annoying to have to plug in a mouse, keyboard, external dvdrw, etc. individually after coming home. plug all that stuff into the hub, then plug 1 usb cable in when u go home
Second battery, a GOOD carrying case exspecialy if you travel with it, usb flash drive, an Igo Juice power system(replace your charger, allows wall, car, and plane charging + adapters for cell phons, PDA ect.). After that it perference.
USB hub for your peripherals. Dust "comb" for your screen (not even sure where to get one, I got it free from an interview). You probably won't need a monitor for the 8600 with that widescreen. I guess it's all how you use your laptop.
And, if Dell is retarded like HP, a thin book to put between your laptop and lap so as to not block the air intake for cooling.

The best accessory would probably be the extended warranty. Make sure you have warranty for two to three years or least the option to extend it.
couldn't agree more, Notebooks are notoriously buggy on the hardware side. Considering the amount of money you'll put into it I'd definitly get as much warranty as possible.
