I am looking for games like Final Fantasy... as in turn based, not the real time that games like The Secret of Mana are.

I am just about done with FF6 (after 4 years of playing) so I need something else as good to last me another 4, something not in the FF series... (I play these games real real slow...)

Chronotrigger comes to mind, I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of any for the life of me...

FF5 and FF6 are japanese only huh? i suppose there must be a language patch out there somewhere, i would like to give them a try.

I recommend Chrono Trigger as well. Great game, similar to FF3. I'm playing thru FF3 as well, dug out my psx and final fantasy anthology :)

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Ya, that game is easy! Only takes like 8hrs, but at least it's fun!

I don't remember if it's turn-based (probably not) but Tales of Phantasia is pretty good.

FF6 in Japan == FF3 in U.S. FF5 was not released in the U.S. (until the PSX version), and FF4 (Japanese) was released as SNES Final Fantasy II. I found a chart online:

Japan =>U.S.
-----------------
FF1=>FF1 (NES)
FF2=>not released in U.S.
FF3=>not released in U.S.
FF4=>FF2 (SNES, later PSX)
FF5=>not released in U.S. (later released for PSX)
FF6=>FF3 (SNES, later PSX)
FF7=>FF7 (after this point, U.S. and Japanese numbers coincide) (for PSX, PC, PS2)

I have seen ROMs of the 'missing' FF games. Some of them have English language patches. I have also heard of Americans learning Japanese just to play the non-interpreted FF games.

Earthbound ROCKS! That game was so much fun. I wish I still had it and a working snes.

Secret of Evermore was great, Secret of Mana was great, FF3 was elite.

I noticed that Chrono Trigger still sells for $60 (used) at my local Gamestop. Must be one helluva game. Good thing I'm not into RPGs
