Rollerblades are a brand. Like kleenex. They just dominated the market so well that their brand name is used to identify the product

If ice hockey skates relate, I have a pair of Nike Bauer that I really like. CCM has also been good to me.

I still have some missions that I got years ago. I'm not sure about their new ones but these were the closest feeling to actual ice hockey skates that I could find and were excellent quality.

K2 is the top inline skate brand...basically they are different because they use different baring (ILQ instead of ABEC) designed for rollerblading so they are more efficiency or last longer (i work at a sporting store and this is what my manager told me)...designed to fit regular to smaller feet

Rollerblade is the reason you call them Rollerblade, they are still awesome and are usually priced slightly lower then k2 and rebrand ABEC bearings as EQ or something...overall fit a regular to wider foot

If your going hockey style i would actually say RBK>Bauer>Mission but thats my opinion...when going with hockey style wheels are everything on cheap pairs they will be 78a, 80a, 82a, 84a, if you play indoor you will end up on your ass instantly if your outdoors go with these...high ends will have 72a, 74a, 76a, which are softer...better indoors but outdoors will eat through

look at baring ratings don't settle for under a 5 (1,3,5,7,9) basically 9 is a waste unless your doing long distances because you will feel it is smoother after they heat up...5 or 7 is the way to go...also find a big wheeled one 84mm+ it gives more speed then smaller ones and lasts longer

Then make sure you get a metal chassie inline...plastic warps and breaks as well as it flexes with weight removing power from the stride

my advice go K2 moto 90 or plain moto...those are the best choices

I think we need twelve more threads on the genericized trademark Rollerblade before we can consider them parodies.

RBK > all...of course I say that because I play inline hockey. I can't recommend any outdoor skates though.

What kind of inlines?

K2 are not the top of the line. If you get into speed inlines, there is an entirely different world of quality out there. Check out Bont, or Simmons (makes boots).

check out www.bont.com

I was one of the top inline speed skaters in the country when I was a teenager. I didn't use bont, but they were on my favored list. I had a custom plate and custom dave simmons boot.

ATOT is the only place I've ever seen rollerblading referred to as gay, or 'out of fashion'. What's the problem with it, and why is it bad to you people? I guess if you're wearing short-shorts, hot pants, or neon clothing, you should go back to the early 90s, but other than that I see no problem. I also grew up playing ice hockey and still play roller hockey, and it's great exercise on a nice day.

Edit: So it seems like various teenager skaters seem to have some sort of an ego issue with people on rollerblades going and doing tricks in the part or something, instead of actually going places on them. I better just go ahead and throw my blades out, wouldn't want to have a 13yo skater think poorly of me.

Ah good old rollerblades. Brings back memories.

I used to have a few different pairs of Rollerblades...started with Zetra 305's, then I got some Lightning 606s.

I spent money on bearings and new wheels and shoot, i remember cleaning out my bearings once a month or so. Can't believe I put so much time into that.

I don't know why but quite a few people think you're gay if you inline skate. I'd never even heard of it until my younger sibling said that friends had asked if I was gay when she mentioned that I inline skated.

They're all teenagers so maybe some skateboarders just started spreading hate or something.

The hockey players and the skaters that do tricks dont carry the gay stereotype. it's the rollerbladers in the really heavy boots with the big wheel that ride around on a sidewalk near the beach that kind of carry the gay stereotype.

Some (not as badly) failed definitions from urbandictionary.

http://www.urbandictionary.com...php?term=rollerblading

An extreme sport involving straping rollerblades on your feet and doing stunts on urban environment. rollerblading is very underground in The United States, only know about by rollerbladers skateboards and some bikers. rollerblading was in the lime light int the mid and late 90s, but skateboarding felt threatened by how cool it could be, and put out a plethora of negative advertising stripping rollerblading of its fame at a time when it was really starting to progress. and now everyone thinks rollerblading and the people who do it are "gay", when really they're some of the coolest people out there, and rollerblading is now on a higher level than skateboarding and biking combined.
i was rollerblading on a roof top when i jumped off and landed backwards after doing two and a half rotations.

.And Rollerblading in no way is harder or easier than skateboarding, beacause we can do such crazy things the standards of rollerblading is set very high.

Rollerblading and Rollerblade are trademark brands of 'INLINE SKATES". Saying I went rollerblading is like saying I Keelex'ed the blood off his knee.

Inline skating is a multi-disciplined sport including

1) SPEEDSKATING (Inline Speedskating)
2) TRICK/VERT/AGGRESSIVE (The rails, curbs, ramps)
3) FIGURE SKATING (Typically on conventional 2x2 rollerskates)
4) ROLLER HOCKEY (hockey on conventional 2x2 rollerskates)
5) INLINE HOCKEY (hockey on inline skates)
6) JAM SKATING (competitive dance routines to modern music)
7) ROLLER DERBY (flat track or banked track)

And to the 'fruitbooters' remark... inline skating is a sport that's recognized by the Olympics--skateboarding is a popular fetish among 10-15 year olds who can't drive.
Chachy: I'm going rollerblading later
Sammy: Don't you mean you're going inline skating?
Chachy: Yeah, same thing I guess

Good to know, since my inline skates are Salomon "aggressive" skates. Small wheels with no brakes.

LOL, I was just exploring my area on rollerblades (ok, well technically K2s) and since I'm near the water decided to go explore the coast. I guess I must have gotten some looks riding around enjoying the weather/water :D Maybe that's cancelled out by the fact that I was checking out a group of muscle cars gathered in a parking lot for a mini-show (though conversely maybe people thought I was checking out the guys, what with rollerblades and all )

All depends on what you want to do in the skates. I used to play roller hockey so I got Missions. I wanted a more casual pair (Missions are a bitch to lace up like real hockey boots with wheels) so I got a hybrid pair that are big wheeled but strong enough for light tricks.

You need to figure out what you want to do. What your foot type is like and the brand is designed. Some brands tend to be a bit narrower boot then others that may accommodate wider. Then price range.

Both pairs of hockey skates I have are Nike... I'm happy with them both. Have both inline and ice.
