What are good graphics drawing freeware programs?

I have a porject that is due on monday, and i am putting all of my stuff into a pp presentation. I am trying to draw pictures on the computer, but it is nearly imposible with paint. Can anyone suggest some other FREE programs i could learn and use to finish my project?
 
i believe adobe has free trials of photoshop elements. its like a 30 day free trial. you can save open all that good stuff. i think its a crippled version of photoshop.
 
I like this freeware program called PhotoShop. Well, the CD my friend gave it to me on said "Freeware" on top, followed by an "LOL"
